Te Wharemauku Awa Rōpū
Te Wharemauku Awa Rōpū is a community group formed to help bring people, projects and plans together around a shared vision for a thriving, healthy Wharemauku Awa.
The group aims to unify and co-ordinate efforts to conserve and protect the Wharemuku Awa.
They envision a thriving awa where the mana and mauri of the stream are deeply respected, and its health uplifts the wellbeing of people. A place where children can swim and explore, wildlife can flourish and fish return freely.
Their three key goals are to connect (bringing together those who care about the awa), advocate (championing the health and mana of Te Wharemauku Awa by advancing a shared vision) and restore (mobilising groups, inspiring action and leading hands-on restoration).
