Kāpiti Kiwi are trapping 1,000ha of the Akatarawa Regional Park with the intent to bring kiwi back in 3-5 years.

Focused on planting, weeding and pest control along the coastal strip between Paekākāriki and Pukerua Bay.

Supporting and enriching Nikau Valley’s natural flora and fauna through pest control and native restoration of forest scenic reserve, wetlands and streams.

Working in both Ōtaki town and the rural surrounds, this new group is working towards building a strong trap network.

Undertakes trapping, weeding and planting in the Waikanae Estuary, supporting an area of approx. 80 hectares on both sides of the river.

The Guardians trap, plant and build tracks in the Whareroa Farm, a 438 hectare block near Mackays Crossing.
